Five things to know about the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas
February 10 2023,
The new and improved 2024 Volkswagen Atlas was introduced this week and it is already getting a lot of attention. Unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show, the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas and 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Sport Cross will deliver improved technology, efficiency, and refinement while also significantly upgrading the level of luxury found inside. Here are five things you want to know about the 2024 VW Atlas and 2024 VW Atlas Cross Sport.
1. The same recipe applies, just with improved ingredients
This is not a new generation of the VW three-row SUV (Atlas) and two-row midsize SUV (Atlas Cross Sport), but rather a significant refresh offering a range of new features, a modernized interior, and a new and more efficient powertrain. However, current Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport owners will recognize the impressive comfort and quality in these new models, and they will also appreciate the fact that VW didn’t change the current Atlas’ sportiness or driving dynamics. In other words, if you loved the current Atlas or Atlas Cross Sport, you will love the 2024 models even more.
2. Noticeable exterior design changes
The new Volkswagen Atlas and VW Atlas Cross Sport boast a bold and stylish design. Both models stand out with a four-bar chrome grille, framed by LED headlights that feature the newly standard Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS). For an added touch of sophistication, all upper trims include Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) that wrap around the headlights and continue into an illuminated lightbar that sits atop an illuminated VW logo. The Atlas Cross Sport model also adds gloss-black grille details and a bold "X" pattern across the lower fascia for an exclusive look. Last but not least, it has a more aggressive rear diffuser than its predecessor to clearly differentiate the new 2024 model.
3. A new interior with more technology
Inside, drivers will find premium materials and leatherette soft-touch material that adds a sleek look from the dashboard to the door trim. On upper trims, take your ride to an even higher level with diamond patterned quilted leather seats. Ambient lighting featuring 30 colour options and an eye-catching backlit dash décor made up of illuminated Atlas lettering complete this luxurious interior.
Its redesigned cockpit includes a 12” floating infotainment display as its centerpiece, along with the 10.25-inch fully configurable Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro. Enjoy the utmost of convenience with standard Wireless App-Connect, wireless charging, and six USB-C ports (eight available) offering 45 watts of fast charging.
4. Impressive list of standard features
The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas and 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport really take it up another notch when it comes to luxury. You can see this in the long list of standard features both models offer. These include a standard heated steering wheel, shift paddles, advanced driver assistance features with the IQ.Drive suite, Climatronic automatic climate control, voice control for the infotainment system, and a height-adjustable passenger seat. You also get ventilated front seats standard in the new 2024 Atlas, making the VW SUV the only model in its class to give you that level of luxury at no extra charge.
5. A new and more powerful powertrain
Get amazing power with the newly updated 2024 Volkswagen Atlas and VW Atlas Cross Sport. Equipped with a turbocharged four-cylinder TSI engine, these models offer 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, providing similar power to the previous VR6 model but with improved fuel economy. Enjoy an eight-speed automatic transmission and 4MOTION all-wheel drive system as standard, along with an impressive 5,000 pounds of towing capacity. Thanks to increased torque over a broader rev range, experience even smoother accelerations and better performance overall. Take advantage of the efficiency of a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine while still enjoying the power of the 3.6-litre V6.
